The Warrior in WoW: Forever is still a Rage-and-stances melee class that can tank or deal damage. The biggest change is under the hood: Rage generation has been rewritten so armor and absorb shields no longer starve you. Several weapon talents are merged, cooldowns stop sharing timers, and each tree gets a new 16-point talent. This page summarizes Blizzard’s official class deep dive.
| Specializations | Arms, Fury, Protection |
|---|---|
| Roles | Tank, Melee damage |

| Alliance races | Human, Dwarf, Night Elf, Gnome, High Order Skyborne |

Every playable race in Forever can be a Warrior, including both Skyborne factions.
How Rage works in Forever
Blizzard rewrote both halves of Rage generation:
- Rage from taking damage keeps the original formula, with one big change: it is calculated as if you always had 50% damage reduction from armor. Wearing better armor no longer lowers your Rage, and absorbs such as Power Word: Shield no longer reduce the Rage you gain either.
- Rage from dealing damage is fully normalized to the speed of the weapon that hit. Critical strikes give 75% more Rage than normal hits (this was missing early in beta and was added back).
Blizzard also acknowledged Rage generation bugs in beta that it was still tracking down, so expect tuning around launch.
Baseline changes every Warrior gets
- Tactical Mastery is learned at level 14: keep 10 Rage when changing stances. The Arms talent version raises this further.
- Victory Rush (new, level 20): after killing a non-trivial enemy you can use an instant attack that heals you for 10% of your maximum health, on a 30-second cooldown.
- Recklessness, Retaliation and Shield Wall no longer share a cooldown. Retaliation and Shield Wall are down to 15 minutes.
- Thunder Clap can be used in Defensive Stance, scales strongly with Attack Power, and has a 6-second cooldown with rebalanced threat.
- Rend now scales significantly with Attack Power.
- Battle Shout gives less Attack Power, because both factions now have Paladin and Shaman buffs, but the Improved Battle Shout bonus is built in.
- Sunder Armor can be applied even when a stronger Expose Armor is on the target, and its threat scales with Attack Power.
Talent structure
Talents start at level 10 with gold medal talents at 11, 16 (new), 21 and 31 points. Respec at a class trainer in a major city; Dual Specialization unlocks at level 40.
Arms
- Weaponmaster (new): replaces the four separate weapon specializations. Axes and polearms add crit, maces and staves ignore some armor, and swords can grant extra attacks.
- Spearing Strike (new 16-point gold medal): a 15-Rage instant attack that dismounts the target and deals double damage to mounted targets, Dragons and Giants.
- Bloodthrill (new): main-hand hits on targets with your Rend can activate Overpower.
- Improved Slam moves into Arms: cheaper, faster and no longer resets your swing timer.
- Improved Tactical Mastery retains up to 25 Rage when switching stances.
- Iron Will moves in from Protection and now shortens stuns.
Fury
- Raging Blows (new 16-point gold medal): Whirlwind hits with both weapons when dual-wielding, and Cleave costs less.
- Boundless Rage (new): raises your maximum Rage. Precision (new): more hit chance.
- Bloodthirst no longer heals you; it gives 10% movement speed for 10 seconds instead, with retuned damage.
- Death Wish now increases all damage you take while active rather than lowering armor and resistances.
- Flurry gives 5% less total attack speed. Enrage can trigger from any damage taken.
- Unbridled Rage triggers more often and gives 2 Rage with a two-handed weapon.
- Improved Demoralizing Shout and Improved Battle Shout are now baseline.
Protection
- Vanguard (new 16-point gold medal): Charge can be used in Defensive Stance.
- Defiance now needs a shield equipped to add threat in Defensive Stance.
- Shield Specialization gives 5 Rage on block instead of 1. Master of Defense (new) can give 5 Rage on dodge or parry with a shield.
- Bastion (new): more damage while wearing a shield. Focused Rage (new): cheaper offensive abilities.
- Improved Shield Wall now cuts Shield Wall’s cooldown by a large amount. Improved Revenge adds damage instead of a stun chance.
- Shield Slam scales more with Block Value.
- Improved Shield Block and Improved Taunt are now baseline; One-Handed Weapon Specialization is removed.
Strengths and weaknesses, according to Blizzard
Warriors remain the masters of melee. They can dish out damage or mitigate it, and they are the only melee class with sustained damage against several melee targets. They bring unique buffs and debuffs that groups want. Their weakness is recovery: Warriors have few tools to get back up after taking too much damage, which is part of why Victory Rush was added.
What is not confirmed yet
- Final Rage tuning, since Blizzard was still fixing Rage bugs late in beta.
- Exact per-level damage and healing numbers in some talent tooltips; these scale with your character, so our Warrior talent calculator shows them as formulas or dashes.
- Weapon and gear lists; we will add them once items can be checked in game.
