Blizzard describes WoW: Forever as an evergreen game that keeps growing through content patches, not a season that ends. This page separates what has a confirmed date from what is announced without a date, so you know what to plan around. We update it as soon as Blizzard announces something new.

Confirmed by season, no exact date
These come from Blizzard’s official roadmap slide shown at BlizzCon 2026 (pictured above). Blizzard gives a season, not a day, and adds that content and timing are subject to change.
| Season | What Blizzard listed |
|---|---|
| Winter | WoW: Forever Hardcore launch (the Hardcore ruleset; 12 Hardcore-specific Legacy Challenges are planned) |
| Spring 2027: major update | 2 new raids (10-player and 20-player), 2 new dungeons, new quests and a new playable area, a new legendary questline, PvP season refresh |
| Summer 2027: major update | Revamped iconic raid, a new raid, expanded world content, 2 new dungeons, PvP season refresh, professions and Legacy updates |
Announced, no timing yet
- New Legacy Challenges every content release, plus new perks, higher spending caps, new trees and more rewards.
- More race and class combinations in future updates.
- A legendary reward tied to the first raid tier (full reveal pending).
- The new Darkspear Islands battleground is announced, but the posts we checked do not say whether it is live on day one.
What Blizzard has said will not change
- No flying mounts.
- No level scaling.
- Leveling stays as important as endgame, and rewards come from playing the game.
How to plan around the roadmap
- Before December 9: focus on reaching level 60, running the new dungeons and finishing the Onyxia attunement, which takes several trips into Blackrock Depths and Blackrock Spire. See the raids guide.
- Thinking about Hardcore: characters and progress do not move into Hardcore from other rulesets, so there is no way to prepare a character for it in advance.
- Collecting Legacy Points: new challenges arrive with each content release, and the summer 2027 update lists Legacy updates, so the 65 available at launch are not the final total.
How we keep this page accurate
Every row above comes from an official Blizzard post or Blizzard’s own roadmap slide, listed in the sources below. Anything from fan sites would be labelled as a secondary report. When a date moves, we change it here and on every page that mentions it.
