PvP in WoW: Forever keeps the ranks and titles of original World of Warcraft, up to High Warlord and Grand Marshal, but simplifies how you get there. Progress is split into Honor, a currency you spend, and Rank Points, which move you up the ranks with a weekly cap. There is also a new 15v15 battleground, the Darkspear Islands.
Honor and Rank Points
| Honor | Rank Points | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Currency | Progress toward the next rank |
| Earned from | Defeating players, completing battlegrounds, PvP quests | Battlegrounds and PvP quests |
| Holiday weeks | Increased Honor in the highlighted battleground | Extra boost in the highlighted battleground |
| Limit | – | Ranks have a weekly cap |
| Spent on | Blue and epic PvP gear | Unlocks what you are allowed to buy |
Blizzard reviewed Honor gains across every battleground so rates are more consistent, so you do not need to farm Alterac Valley just because it pays best.
PvP gear
Honor buys two sets: a blue-quality set and an epic-quality set. To get an epic piece you need the matching blue piece plus an Emboldened Seal, and seals have rank requirements. Blizzard also added gear for specs that had no options before; for example, Shamans now have healer, melee and caster PvP sets.

PvP seasons
PvP runs in seasons. Each season has a journey of weekly tasks that grant Honor and Rank Points. Three of those tasks also grant a Legacy Point, and because they are tied to the Legacy System they stay available in future seasons if you miss them.
PvP and Legacy Points
PvP is the biggest single source of Legacy Points, with 12 in total:
- Reach ranks 3, 7, 10, 13 and 14 (5 points)
- Reach Exalted with each battleground reputation (4 points)
- Complete the season journey quests for weeks 4, 7 and 10 (3 points)
Darkspear Islands battleground
| Type | Capture points plus a flag |
| Size | 15 vs 15 |
| Location | Off the shores of Dustwallow Marsh |
| Levels | 30–60 |
| Win condition | First team to 2,000 points |
| Factions | Darkspear Raiders (Horde) vs Theramore Expeditionary Force (Alliance) |
How it plays: four capture points score over time; the more you hold, the faster you score. A flag in the middle can be carried to any base your team controls for extra points.
How to queue: at a battlemaster in any capital, or at the faction bases in the Barrens: the Darkspear Raiders at the Merchant Coast (Horde) or the Theramore Expeditionary Force at Northwatch (Alliance), where a portal takes you in.
Rewards: each faction has its own reputation with vendors selling trinkets, rings, cloaks, weapons, armor and consumables. Battleground quests turn in Marks of Honor for reputation, and an Exalted questline unlocks the faction’s exclusive tabard.
World PvP and rulesets
If you want open-world PvP, play on the PvP ruleset (or Roleplay-PvP). On PvP you can only have characters of one faction. Battlegrounds can mix players from different rulesets, except Hardcore.
What is not confirmed yet
- Exact Rank Point amounts and the weekly cap value.
- Season length and start date.
- Which four battleground reputations count for the Legacy Challenge. We will list them once confirmed in game.
