The level cap in WoW: Forever is 60, and the trip there is meant to matter as much as the endgame. More than 1,000 new quests run through the whole level 1–60 journey, there is no level scaling, and an ordinary creature takes about 10–15 seconds to kill solo. This guide covers where to level at each stage, every way to earn experience faster, and how dungeons fit in.
Level cap and the road to 60
- Maximum level: 60. The roadmap adds raids, dungeons, quests and Hardcore, not new levels.
- Talents start at level 10, one point per level, for 51 points at 60. Plan a build with the talent calculator.
- Dual Specialization at level 40, changed at a class trainer in a major city.
- Riding: Forever uses the Burning Crusade approach, so the cost is in riding training and you get a mount when you learn the skill.
- Raids open on December 9, 2026, about five weeks after launch, giving you time to reach 60 and gear up in dungeons. See the raids guide.
Where to level, by level range
| Levels | Where to go | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1–12 | Your race’s starting zone, or Zephras Isle for Skyborne | New players get a tutorial at the start |
| 13–20 | Hall of Thanes (13–18), Ruins of Lordaeron (15–20) | Each sits beside a capital: Ironforge for the Alliance, the Undercity for the Horde |
| 24–33 | Excavation Site (24–29), City of Dalaran (28–33) | Dalaran needs an attunement questline first |
| 35–45 | Riverglades, Shen’dralas, The Drowned City (35–40), Krol’dok Stronghold (40–45) | Riverglades has 150+ quests across the mid-30s to mid-40s; the Shen’dralas centaur quests start at 35 |
| 48–60 | Alcaz Prison (48–53), Blackmaw Hold (55–60), Shaper’s Terrace (58–60) | At 60, Mount Hyjal holds two of the first three raids |
The original zones are still there, with new quests added throughout. Pick up every flight path on the way: there are no flying mounts in Forever.
Every experience bonus
| Bonus | What it does | How to get it |
|---|---|---|
| Well Fed XP Boost | +5% experience from kills while Well Fed | Eat one of the 100+ cooking foods that carry the bonus |
| Camp Tent | Fills your rested experience up to 5% of a level (no effect if you already have more); once per hour | A Leatherworking camp object: sit near it at a campfire |
| Well Rested (Legacy perk) | Rested experience builds faster and its cap is higher | Spend a Legacy Point in the Adventure tree |
| Talented (Legacy perk) | Unlocks talent points up to 5 levels earlier | Legacy Adventure tree |
| Thrill of Adventure (Legacy perk) | Restores a little health and mana after every non-trivial kill | Legacy Adventure tree |
| Rested experience | Bonus experience from kills | Log out in an inn or a capital city |
Campsite buffs need you to sit or craft at the campsite for about a minute. You can sit, lie down, sleep or kneel to get them, and you can still cast and craft while you wait.
Leveling in dungeons
- Dungeon kills give about 20% more experience than they did early in the beta.
- Group experience works like Classic Era: each player’s experience from a kill depends only on their own level, not on the highest-level player in the group. If someone in the group is far above the enemy’s level, nobody gets experience from it.
- Dungeon quests give 50% less bonus experience on top of normal quest rewards, so dungeons are good for a few levels and gear but are not meant to replace questing.
- Three Legacy Challenges reward clearing every dungeon in the 15–25, 26–45 and 46–60 brackets.
Leveling alts faster
Legacy Points are shared by every character on your account, but each character spends them in its own trees, up to 16 points at launch. The system opens once your account earns its first point, which for most players is the first character to reach level 25. Many Legacy Challenges reward leveling itself, such as leveling a different class, so each alt also earns points for the next. The full list is on the Legacy tracker.
Quick leveling tips
- Cook while you level. A food that also gives +5% kill experience is the cheapest bonus in the game.
- Stop at campfires. A minute at a camp gives one-hour buffs from every profession object placed there, plus rested experience from a Camp Tent.
- Watch the quest tracker. It shows each quest’s required level and type, which makes it easy to spot quests that are about to go grey.
- Train new ranks. Many early spell ranks were retuned so each new rank is a real upgrade, and ranks far below your level get less benefit from your spell damage and healing.
- Pick a ruleset with your friends. You can only group with players on the same ruleset.
